Christmas Party

Lyga wanted something elegant and sexy for her work Christmas party.

She certainly made the right choice with this simple long black, low v-neck gown, and modest split on the leg.

Russian Ball

Jessica, one of our regulars, is seen wearing our blue/purple floral ball-gown to the Russian Ball last October.

Modelling Shoot

This gorgeous lady hired one of our gowns for a modelling shoot recently.

The photographer is called, Rhody Sims, more of his brilliant work can be seen here http://www.rhodysims.com/

Our Very Own X-Factor Contestant

She made it to the judge’s houses back in 2014. We were all shocked when she hadn’t made it through to the next round! But it’s good to see she is still carrying on with that remarkable voice.

Kerrianne is wearing our pale gold cocktail dress, seen performing at Her Majesty’s Theatre last October.

Elton John Ball

This is the charming Brenda. She was invited last week to Elton John’s prestigious annual summer ball, held in Windsor, where money is raised for Elton’s AIDS Foundation.

She looks an absolute knock-out in our navy heavy jersey, capped shoulder, floor length gown.

Pretty in Red

This looker of a lady is wearing our favourite silk, tight fitting, deep red cocktail dress to a dinner.

Classic design, yet very elegant and ladylike, just like our Alex.

High School Prom

Check out this gorgeous young thing! This lovely lady had her school prom to attend and hired this gown for it.

She informed us that she won second best for her gown too, which of course we don’t doubt, as she looks absolutely knock out here.

Being Cinderella for the Evening

Our beautiful Annette (pictured in the middle) wearing our full skirted navy ball-gown with gem embellishment.

She had her very formal end of year white tie ball to attend at Oxford – She looks absolutely knock out here!

Night at the V&A

Anna, (on the left in the picture) hired this black and gold lace top with embellishment, and then accessorised it with this tulle black scarf for the evening – how very formal they all look!

Livery Dinner

This is the lovely Beth, who attended a Livery dinner with her better half last week – She’s wearing our super sexy, gold embroidered shoulder dress with front and back mesh inserts – a real show stopper!

“Thanks. I loved the dress. Didn’t want to take it off. The whole experience was  a delight! I had lots of compliments!” Beth France.

Winter Sparkle!

This lovely group pictured here, attended Emma’s 18th, (2nd from the left) at the Hurlingham in December just gone. The theme was Winter Sparkle, and don’t they all look magnificent?

Carol, Emma’s mum, (pictured on the left) wore an evening gown from us in navy and lace, full length. She couldn’t have looked more perfect in my opinion!

Winter White Gala

600 hundred guests embarked on Kensington Palace for their charity ball, Winter Whites Gala, which took place on Tuesday 26th November. An event which raises money for the charity, Centrepoint, for homeless young people. An astounding 1million was raised on the night.

Celebrity guests included, Prince William, Jon Bon Jovi, and Taylor Swift. This handsome trio pictured, were lucky enough to attend this event, and boy did they enjoy it! The two ladies hired their whole outfits from us, and we were more than happy to help make them sparkle for their winter ball.

Eurovision 2013 – The Fashion Stakes

Last night’s 58 year old canard, the Eurovision song contest features a drab four chord load of instantly forgettable tunes.  But some interesting outfits.  I like the fact that more and more acts are choosing to wear long dresses instead of the commoner leather or short appliqued frock horrors of the past.

Best dressed would have gone to Ukraine (was it Ukraine?) for that pale pink strapless gown except for the dress-maker failing to account for hip movement resulting in an unattractive bulge that destroyed an otherwise perfect column.

In a neon pink ball gown straight out of Star Wars,  the Compere or shall we say commere’s outfit was good in close up, framing her cleavage and balancing the butterfly beehive, but with those Japanese sleeves and ugly panel missing in the skirt ruined what could have been a timelessly elegant classic gown.  A typical example of a dress designed by committee.

Denmark’s winning number was not just in the tune.  This pretty ballet length hanky hem dress suited the song, the singer and deserved its place at the top. Talking of hankys what about the handsome Armenian with the scarves?  Is this a future trend, guys, or was he promoting his sister’s accessory company?  Skirts anyone?

Did anyone else see a singer in silver sequins fall off the stage during the “visit Sweden” promo song?

Germany’s beige sequined pageant gown with the hi-low hemline didn’t work for me.  The stiffness of that heavily beaded fabric looked clumpy as she moved about the stage; hi-low hemlines work best in a soft flowing fabric.

Britain’s Bonnie Tyler – well…..who’s idea was it to put her in a black off the shoulder cat suit?  Didn’t suit her, didn’t suit the song.  What more can one say?

Finland’s wedding dress certainly fitted the tune but ruined by the pink over boots and the back group in red PVC pinafores – golden showers, anyone?

Estonia, my favourite.  An elegant strapless flowing white gown. Pregnant she may be, but the dress was beautifully balanced nonetheless.

How To Measure Yourself

You may want some help when doing this.

Height

1. Stand straight with your feet together

2. Start at the top of your head and pull the measuring tape down to the floor (you may need some help with this)

3. Don’t wear shoes

Waist

1. Your waist is usually found 1inch above your bellybutton

2. Wrap the measuring tape around your waist, not so tight so allowing you to breathe comfortably

Hips

1. Your hips are generally about 7” below your waist (depending on your size)

2. Looking in a mirror, find the widest part of your hips

3. The measuring tape should brush across both of your hipbones

Shoulder

1. You start by measuring at the back, from one edge of the shoulder socket to the next shoulder socket

Bust

1. Relax your arms

2. Keep your bra on, as you’re not measuring your bra size

3. Pull the tape around the back across the shoulder blades, then under your arms and across the fullest part of your bust – take measurement

Dressing for the winter (or should I say, preparing to step out of the door?)

We all want to look stylish and coordinated when we step out of the door each morning, don’t we? But, this may seem easier said than done once the winter creeps in. I have the greatest intentions (generally the evening before) of wearing something chic and sophisticated for the following day.

I wake up, and the first thing I do is look outside to see if the weather has suddenly & miraculously turned into a full blown summer, which of course it hasn’t. So inevitably, my inner senses tell me to look for the nearest and biggest (looks the warmest) jumper teamed with my lifesaver UGG boots.

‘Is there a way for me to style out wearing joggers to the supermarket? I’m too comfy’ commented a friend today on Facebook. Most answers were playful, yet ideal in this utterly bone chilling weather. My suggestion was to role up her joggers and put on a pair of those hideous heeled boots people seem to be sporting at the moment, clearly joking of course!

Back to our problem; Dressing for the Winter? Through, what looks to be a long bleak winter this year. Our aim, keeping warm, whilst remaining dapper at all times. Whatever the weather this season, snow, rain, wind and storms – here’s 5 stylish items one must never be without:

1. My Tartan scarf: very soft and perfectly matches my Barbour wax jacket (and it was only £1.99 from a shop in the West End!)

2. Chanel hydrating conditioning lip balm http://bit.ly/WKYWN0 Rouge Coco Baume – silky heaven in a stick, plus protecting my lips from the weather.

3. Black cable knit socks from Topshop http://bit.ly/10IBGEW perfect with ankle boots over normal socks (as my feet freeze!)

4. A nice thick jumper, I rarely leave the house without one on. See an example from Scotweb’s collection in Cashmere http://bit.ly/WL5drR

5. A decent pair of wellies. Harrods stock some amazing boots, like these Hunter Regent Savoy Wellies http://bit.ly/XxIcaA
