New York Met Ball

We just love when our dresses get to jet off for an event. This was worn in New York, by a lady called Nicola at a recent Met Ball. It’s our full skirted, gold bodice ball gown.

Perfect for dancing all night in!

amfAR Fundraising Gala

The German beauty stepped out in New York, wearing an Elie Sabb cotton blend lace dress last night to the amfAR fundraising gala. We personally feel the sleeves can look a little older on an evening gown?

What do you think?

‘Hi,

I enjoyed visiting One Night Stand. It was a lot of fun trying on different dresses that I would never normally dare to wear.. And I did feel glamorous during the party itself.

It’s also great not to have to find more closet space for a dress which, lovely as it is, I would only ever wear a couple of times in a lifetime!

thanks

Who says redheads can’t wear red?!

BAFTA

It’s that time of year again, where award winning actors and actresses are credited for their performances throughout the year. But I can’t bypass this blog-post without a mention of the glamorous, show stopping, jaw dropping, evening dresses that grace the red carpet every February. It’s black tie at its finest. And we are lucky to say, we have some of our own attending this prestigious event.

Keep on the lookout for photos from the event.

Brick and Mortar

Our lovely Margaret, is wearing the deep black, off the shoulder, rose pattern long ball gown.

‘Hi Joanna

This email is well overdue, but I wanted to thank you for your help with a dress for the charity ball I attended in November. The dress attracted so many compliments, both from friends and from people I didn’t know – on one occasion a young man came up to me and said his girlfriend wanted to tell me what a stunning dress I had on, but wasn’t able to as she had a bad case of hiccups, so she had sent him to tell me lol! Many people said it was the best dress at the ball. I really enjoyed wearing the dress, and I told everyone who commented where I had got it from, so I hope I have generated some new business for you. I will definitely be back for next year’s ball gown.

Have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards

Margaret’

If you want it specific to the Jaguar Awards…

Glyndebourne Opera Festival

Glyndebourne has taken place annually since 1943. This beautifully country house, estimated to be around 600 years old is located in East Sussex.

Glyndebourne is attended by those who have a love for opera, and beautiful scenery. There is plenty to do, it’s a full day if not more: fine dining, and lots of Art & Sculpture to admire. The festival itself runs from the middle of May until the last weekend of August. Whilst those who generally attend the festival come for the opera (tickets needed) most also like to make a day of it, and take time to immerse themselves in the wonderful gardens, where you can bring a picnic and take in all that Glyndebourne has to offer.

So you have your ticket and you are ready to attend this grand event. The next most important thing: What to wear? You know this really is an event you can afford to go all out and look fabulous for!

We advise, stick with the tradition of wearing an evening gown. The founder, John Christie always said, he felt this was one of the ways the audience could show respect for the performers. Plus it’s an excuse to get dressed up.

Ladies tend to go with long dresses, floaty, colourful, even a print can look very feminine. A wrap works well too, an organza wrap can easily brighten up an outfit, and works well in the evening when it starts to get a little chillier. Obviously a nice coat works well too, if you tend to feel the cold in the evening.

Shoes, wear comfortable ones. If you intend on strolling around the gardens, maybe don’t opt for a stiletto heel, as we know they tend to sink into the ground. A simple court shoe might be more effient, or just go with flats – the safer option.
