Did you watch that programme on Channel 4 last night? It was brilliant! So inspiring, it made me want to change my life, wear bold colours, start a new fitness regime and throw out any beige coloured clothing I own.
If you didn’t watch it, you should. It’s basically about 6 ladies who are all older, ranging from 73 up to an astounding 90 years old. Sue the 73 year old, who decided one day to pack in her famous cookbook empire to become a quirky artist, plus she’ll never be seen without one of her homemade accessories when she leaves the house and also made an interesting quote, “My motto is, don’t wear beige. It will kill you.”
Another inspiring lady, Jean 75, took to changing her life through fashion after her husband passed away after 50 years of marriage. One day she mentioned to her son she’d like to work maybe in a charity shop? To which he said to her after a moment’s thought “why not try Gap, mum?” Which Jean thought about and ended up working in Gap for over a year.
All these ladies have heartening stories, reasons why they are extroverts in their own individual ways. We may not be seeing these ladies in the fashion industry anytime soon, but why shouldn’t they have fun?
In the programme, they project the feeling that getting old doesn’t mean you have to fade into the background. From Dr Martens, long hair, colourful layers, to the oldest working model in the UK, this is a programme to be seen by all.
