That’s One 21st Birthday to Remember

This gorgeous lady celebrated her 21st birthday last Friday. She came to us and hired this evening dress, to attend her birthday dinner and drinks in London with family & friends. And this is her other half, sporting quite an ensemble too.

Don’t they just make a dapper couple!

Istanbul Wedding

This is Yana, she hire this cross back all over sequin ruby red dress to attend a wedding in Istanbul. Doesn’t she look just divine?!

Boodles Boxing Ball

The biennial boxing ball – The black-tie event on everyone’s lips, took place on Saturday 21st at the Grosvenor House Hotel. The show is put on by director, James Amos. It’s the only venue of its kind in London to stage such an event, that’s just over 1000 people!

Yes, it’s boxing, but boxing by amateurs, for charity. The proceedings are generally divided between charities.

If you’re lucky enough to find yourself strolling down the red carpet to see this glamorous affair, you may well be surprised by how up market this really is.

Some of Saturday night’s guests included, Prince Harry (of course), Princess Eugenie, Pippa Middleton and Zara Philips who wore her dress incredibly well. Plus other A-List celebrities attended, all dressed absolutely top to tail in what was suitably their best for this event.

How To Measure Yourself

You may want some help when doing this.

Height

1. Stand straight with your feet together

2. Start at the top of your head and pull the measuring tape down to the floor (you may need some help with this)

3. Don’t wear shoes

Waist

1. Your waist is usually found 1inch above your bellybutton

2. Wrap the measuring tape around your waist, not so tight so allowing you to breathe comfortably

Hips

1. Your hips are generally about 7” below your waist (depending on your size)

2. Looking in a mirror, find the widest part of your hips

3. The measuring tape should brush across both of your hipbones

Shoulder

1. You start by measuring at the back, from one edge of the shoulder socket to the next shoulder socket

Bust

1. Relax your arms

2. Keep your bra on, as you’re not measuring your bra size

3. Pull the tape around the back across the shoulder blades, then under your arms and across the fullest part of your bust – take measurement

So, you’ve got the coveted invite to the BAFTA’s,  only a matter of weeks away. If it’s not a gleeful “yippee a chance to show off my Valentino” it may be that panicky feeling: ‘Oh, what am I going to wear?’ We all get that feeling don’t we? You might go shopping for something in a rush, repenting later or you could come and rent one of our perfect evening dresses.

We’ve been styling nominees and guests for over 30 years and are expert in dressing you up. It’s a long evening, so as well as looking the part in an outfit you can comfortably sit in you’ll need comfortable shoes too!

Tip: you might need a colourful, possibly jewelled wrap to keep you warm also.

Christmas time – ways to stay covered up at formal events

December brings more formal events than at any other time of the year.

Christmas time – ways to stay covered up at formal events

There’s a plethora of black tie Army and Navy dinners, where your shoulders must be covered as you dine. We advise using a shrug, or even a shawl in a light fabric such as tulle or chiffon, it’ll also stay put whilst you eat!

Alternatively, why not fix it in place with a small diamond broach, this will add some colour and light to the wrap.
